					<description><![CDATA[<p>South Hams District Council is once again on the lookout for local heroes for its annual South Hams Community Awards. For the second year running, the awards will celebrate people and organisations who go above and beyond to help local people every day. So, do you know someone doing wonderful things for your community? Is there an organisation who is making a real difference to local people? If yes, you can now shine a spotlight on their hard work by nominating them for a South Hams Community Award. The Chairman of the Council along with a panel of judges, are looking for nominations in the following categories: &#8211; Young Persons Award (for under 18s) &#8211; Community Champion Award (for over 18s) &#8211; Community Organisation Award &#8211; Climate and Biodiversity Champion Award The Climate and Biodiversity Champion category, a new award for 2025 has been added to recognise those doing great things for the natural environment and helping to tackle climate change, one of the Council’s top priorities. &#160; Chairman of South Hams District Council, Cllr Bernard Taylor, said: “There is so much great work going on across the South Hams which too often goes unrecognised. 					<description><![CDATA[<p>Please be reminded that PayByPhone is coming to South Hams District Council owned car parks this Sunday, 12 January. Anyone using SHDC car parks will need to use the PaybyPhone parking app if they want to pay for parking through their phone. They will no longer be able to use current provider RingGo from this Sunday 12 January 2025 for cashless parking. Residents and visitors can continue to pay by cash at one of our machines if they prefer. The PayByPhone app can be download at: the App Store  on Google Play For those already using the PayByPhone app, they may want to re-install it to make sure they are using the latest version. More advice on using the PayByPhone app can be found on the SHDC website. Please help spread the word by sharing this information with your communities.</p>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>Karen Dent, Community and Health Engagement Coordinator for South Hams and West Devon Outreach has provided an update on community project funding as follows: Below are some funding opportunities that may be relevant for projects your communities are seeking support with. Please feel free to share widely, ensuring your residents have the chance to access these resources for the benefit of local people. BlueSpark Foundation A registered charity which supports the education and development of children and young people by providing grants for educational, cultural, sporting and other projects. https://bluesparkfoundation.org.uk/ Under-26 Fund Charities can apply for funding for projects that focus on creating educational and/or access opportunities for children and young people facing challenging circumstances. This encompasses those in circumstances, groups or locations that face economic challenges, social marginalisation or poor outcomes in later life. All sorts of work could be funded through this programme, as long as the beneficiaries are in the UK and are wholly, or mainly, under the age of 26. Grants are available to registered charities with an income of at least £50,000. You can apply for between £10,000 and £25,000. The funding is for specific projects but this could include revenue or capital costs as [&#8230;]</p>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>A reminder of the A379 road closures at East Charleton (source: One Charleton): &#160; There is going to be disruption for the next two weeks; 30th Sept &#8211; 4th Oct is an evening closure (7.30pm &#8211; 7.30am). The 6.15am bus from Dartmouth is cancelled; 7th &#8211; 10th Oct is an &#8216;off-peak&#8217; closure (9am &#8211; 3.30pm). The closures are as a result of works by South West Water and National Grid.</p>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>The Parish Council has been forwarded the following email from Dave Ovenden, Senior Transport Co-ordinating Officer for Devon County Council: Due to the A379 being closed at East Charleton for drainage works from Monday 7 October for four days between 0900 and 1530, we have arranged for a free Shuttle Bus to run between Frogmore and Strete where it will provide connections with the normal service bus, which will be diverting inland between Strete and Kingsbridge. Please find attached poster which is being put up at bus stops this week. Please note that services before 0900 and after 1530 along this section of route will operate as normal.
